Dentistry

Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's health at any age. We have undergone extensive training in veterinary dentistry to be able to provide top of the line dental care for your pet.  All dentals must be performed under general anesthesia in order to protect the pets airway and to properly and safely examine and clean the teeth.  We use modern ultrasonic equipment to scale the tartar from the tooth both above and below the gumine.  The teeth are then polished to create a smooth surface that is more resistant to plaque buildup.  After cleaning each surface of the tooth is checked for signs of periodontal disease (gum loss, exposure of the roots, pockets between the tooth root and gum).  Digital radiographs are then taken of each tooth to check for bone loss above the gumine or enamel defects.  Any diseased teeth are surgically removed after local anesthetic blocks and additional pain medications and antibiotics are sent home as needed.  We also provide dental restorative procedures for broken or worn teeth, root canal therapy for damaged teeth, and preventative orthodontics for puppies with abnormal bites.  Once your pets teeth have been professionally cleaned, we give you the tools to help minimize periodontal disease by implementing a preventative dental care plan at home.
